OCR: The Secret to the Magic Square The numbers on the Magic Square seem to be laid out randomly, but they really aren't. Actually, for each layout, no matter which numbers you choose, the total will be the same. Here's how you can make your own Magic Square: First, come up with a two-digit number, preferably higher than thirty. Put the first digit in the upper left-hand corner square of your grid. Put the second digit in the lower right-hand corner. Now, think of two numbers that add up to the first digit (e.g ., if your number is 59, 2 and 3 would work). Put these numbers in the following positions: 2 Now do the same with the second digit, and put these num- 3 5 bers above the top-right square and to the left of the bot- tom left-hand square. Now think of six numbers which add up to the difference between your "magic" number and the sum of its digits. Put these numbers in the remain- ing six positions on the top and left side of your grid. Treat the grid as an addition square, and add up the numbers into the grid. Finally, just remember the magic number and prepare to amaze your friends!
